“I’ve always been someone who wants to get away from what’s been done and open the door to see what’s possible.” Treveon Alexander, a Sr. Marketing Specialist at TrendyMinds, has been named a 2022 Indy’s Best & Brightest finalist, an event that honors 100 of central Indiana’s most outstanding young professionals. We sat down with Treveon to learn more about his day-to-day routine, business philosophy, and career aspirations. What are your responsibilities in your role at TrendyMinds? I like to consider myself a senior project manager liaison between our clients and our company. I determine what the client's needs are, work to get the right people together, and see what we can create. I also like to look for business development opportunities when working with our clients. I strive to show them the full scope of our agency and how we can support them in other ways. I primarily work on digital assets, so it’s always great when I can bring our clients and our visual artists together to create something they may not have previously thought was possible. What’s your favorite thing about working in tech marketing? I love technology and innovation. Being able to work on digital projects means I can help bring the best of the Internet together. I’m just blown away by the things we can produce. It’s great to deliver an asset to a client and see their excitement. It’s also amazing to not only see the cool things we can do, but also see the reach it has; from established websites to potential customer acquisitions, the work we’ve done is really getting out there for everyone to see. What does being a 2022 Indy’s Best & Brightest finalist mean to you? I like to work hard in general, but when people see it themselves and recognize me for it, it feels really good. I look up to some of the people who are also nominated, so for me to be nominated for the same type of award, it’s unreal. It makes me feel good to be recognized as doing good work, but when other people recognize you, it hits you differently. Being thought of as the best and brightest of what you do, that makes you smile right there. This job and type of work are what I wanted to do right out of college, so to finally be here in this role and be recognized for it solidifies all of that. This journey has taken a lot of steps, but I wouldn’t change anything. What’s your professional philosophy? Learn as much as you can from everyone around you. On the client-side, I always think about how we can go above and beyond their initial expectations. For my coworkers, I strive to be the coworker I would love to have. I try to understand the jobs of people I’m working with, so I can help make their jobs easier; if you understand their position, it allows everyone to work better together. What advice do you have for the next generation of community leaders? Know what you want and go after it. I think it’s important to be both successful and happy, and what might make you successful might not necessarily make you happy, which is why persistence and perseverance go hand-in-hand. I fully believe things happen for a reason, and even if you veer off-track sometimes, working through those challenges will help you appreciate getting to your goal even more. What are your hobbies outside of work? I enjoy being outside and in the community. My family and I really enjoy walking around Fort Harrison State Park and the Monon Trail in Broad Ripple. Like many people, we also enjoy our streaming services, so we’ve been binging Ozark and Good Girls on Netflix and Upload on Amazon Prime. My wife and I recently welcomed our second child, so we’re also enjoying spending time together as a family. Winners of the 2022 Indy's Best and Brightest Awards will be announced on March 24.
